Developing a Self-Sufficiency Matrix to Track Progress and Analyze Components of Self-Sufficiency
The Washington State Snohomish County Workforce Development Council developed a self-sufficiency matrix that can be used in case management or as a self-assessment tool, a measurement tool, and a communication tool. The matrix currently evaluates self-sufficiency along 16 domains (e.g., employment stability, education, English language skills, life skills, and child care). The scales are based on a continuum of “in crisis” to “self-sufficient.” The case manager works with the customer to assign scores and monitor progress toward self-sufficiency.
